ARTICLE 1. Dates and Places<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The eighth edition of the Festival Court Derri\u00e8re will take place in Saint-Denis de La R\u00e9union from rom October 6 to October 10, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festival is organized by Klaxon and Cinemawon associations, working in the curation of screenings events and workshops in film analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARTICLE 2. Eligibility conditions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration is free and concerns films completed after 1st January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festival accepts fiction, animated films, experimental films and documentaries made by filmmakers from the African continent but also from the African diasporas and Afro-descendants around the world, but also from First Nation people of the Americas and the Pacific.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These films must be subtitled in French if their original language is not French, for the festival screenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The duration of the film should not exceed 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARTICLE 3. Film registrations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The registration deadline is June 30th, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The form must imperatively be accompanied by a viewing link (Vimeo, Youtube, Dropox, etc.) with password, if applicable. The link provided must remain valid until the publication of the official selection. The Court Derri\u00e8re festival expressly undertakes to keep the confidentiality of the links and passwords communicated to it, and to use them only as part of the selection process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We accept work-in-progress entries in the selection process before the official deadline as long as it is specified what stage the making of the film has reached and you precisely tell us about the film’s completion schedule. In that specific case, we will not accept films completed after August 15th, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARTICLE 4. Selection Process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each film received is watched by at least two people. Short-listed films are seen and discussed by the selection committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selected filmmakers\/producers will be informed of the decisions of the selection committee, by email, prior to the announcement of the official selection, set for September 15, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that as part of its official screenings (indoors or online if applicable), the festival does not pay screening rights for films that are part of the official competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARTICLE 5. Support and projection formats<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selected films must be made available to the festival no later than September 8th, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The films must be sent as a video file by download link WeTransfer, Smash or MyAirBridge to our email address courtderrierefestival@gmail.com<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For optimal screening conditions we accept files with the following characteristics:
HD or 4K definition.
Format: .mov or .mp4
Codec H264 (good quality) or ProRes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARTICLE 6. Distribution of films<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any director or producer who has submitted a film is responsible for providing a copy of the film for the festival if selected. No withdrawal of film after announcement of its selection will be accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any film submitted to the festival may be subject to ad hoc programming within the framework of Klaxon or Cinemawon activities. If that happens, the concerned
filmmakers of producers will be contacted in order to agree on the terms of these screenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARTICLE 7. Jury & Prize<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The juries will be made up of film professionals, students and the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three prizes will be awarded:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– The Heva Prize awarded by the Public<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– The Eli Prize awarded by the professional Jury<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– The Makandal Prize awarded by the Student Jury<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARTICLE 7bis. Awarded films screenings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rights holders of the films awarded at the 7th Court Derri\u00e8re Film Festival, give permission to the Festival to have the screening rights for their film between the end of the festival and 31st December 2026 as part of the replay of the Awards in partnering theaters of the festival in La R\u00e9union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These screenings may not exceed one screening per venue and rights holders will be
informed of each screening of this program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARTICLE 8. Communication & Press<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If selected, the festival reserves the right to present an extract from the film to local, national or international television, not exceeding 10% of the total duration of the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Festival reserves the right to use short extracts and \/ or images of the film in printed communication tools or through any other medium, only for the purpose of promoting the festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARTICLE 9. Copyright<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– The rights holders of the films declare that they hold the rights to use all the visual and sound elements used in the production of the film that they register for the festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– The screening fee is 100 Euros (incl. tax) for each selected film. We can make electronic payments by Paypal or Western Union preferably and in some exceptions through bank account transfer. All payments will be made upon reception of an invoice made to Klaxon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– The festival team can decide at any time on an exception to the regulations. In this case, they will immediately inform the concerned candidate (s) by email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– The request to register for the 8th edition of the Court Derri\u00e8re festival implies full acceptance of the above-mentioned regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARTICLE 10. Online screenings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the situation requires it, if the festival had to be canceled or could not be ensured in optimal conditions of reception of the public (administrative ban or any other reasons beyond our control), the organizers reserve the right to maintain its edition, partially or totally online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARTICLE 11. Derogations & Disputes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organizing committee alone is empowered to settle points not provided for in the regulations and to grant exemptions. Participation in the festival implies unreserved acceptance of the terms of these regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any dispute relating to its application and interpretation will be submitted to the competent courts of Saint-Denis de La R\u00e9union, the applicable law being French law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARTICLE 12. Cancellation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organizing committee reserves the right to cancel the festival in the event of a major problem beyond its control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
